January 30th, 2008 — sneakers
Thanks to ‘boro Dave from SSDB for providing the link, Sneaker Freaker has put out a buying guide that’s pretty interesting.
Sure, you find something you’ve been looking for forever, like boxfresh Neighborhoods or Footpatrols, and you’re going to buy them regardless of cost, but it’s nice to have the information if there’s any opportunity for haggling.

now if I’d only bought those AF-1 Bobbito’s at Goodfoot when I saw them…

January 27th, 2008 — adidas, sneakers, vins, wearing
In sneakerhead culture you’ve got at least 5 different groups. You’ve got the guys who’ll buy whatever, as long as they think it looks cool/is rare/costs a lot. Then you’ve got the die-hard Jordan guys. Then you’ve got the Nike guys. Then you’ve got the adidas guys. Then you’ve got the adidas superstar guys…
I’m in group 6. I’m a Vins guy. I don’t know what it is about the Vin. Perhaps it’s the clean shell. The tiny heel tag. The lack of the trefoil. The soft laces. Sure, I’m a fan of the Superstar overall (except SS2’s with the lame lace grommets), but there’s something about a nice pair of Vins. Promodel Vins included.
Today I’m wearing butterscotch coloured Vin promodels with red stripes. They’re fresh.
